Volgens de Amerikaanse zender 'NBC' was er zaterdagavond ook even onrust in het seminarie van Carolus Borromeus in Philadelphia, toen er een kleine brand uitbrak. Bergoglio verbleef in het seminarie tijdens zijn verblijf in Philadelphia. Volgens de zender moest het gebouw niet ontruimd worden en was er al evenmin sprake van kwaad opzet.

Pope Thanks Firefighters Who Responded to Small Fire at Seminary

Local firefighters received the call of a lifetime when a small fire started in the elevator of the seminary where Pope Francis was staying during his historic trip in Philadelphia.

The fire was reported inside the elevator of the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Saturday around 10:45 p.m. Chief Francis Dixon of the Narberth Volunteer Fire Company described the moment he received the call as "surreal."
