ROME IS IN APOSTASY

"The apostasy of the city of Rome from the Vicar of Christ and its destruction by Antichrist may be thoughts so new to many Catholics, that I think it well to recite the text of theologians of greatest repute. First Malvenda, who writes expressly on the subject, states as the opinion of Ribera, Gaspar Melus, Biegas, Suarrez, Bellarmine and Bosius that Rome shall apostatise from the faith, drive away the Vicar of Christ and return to its ancient paganism. …Then the Church shall be scattered, driven into the wilderness, and shall be for a time, as it was in the beginning, invisible hidden in catacombs, in dens, in mountains, in lurking places; for a time it shall be swept, as it were from the face of the earth. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#675) says:

"Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the Truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh." (CCC #675)

De laatste beproeving van de Kerk

"Voorafgaand aan de komst van Christus moet de Kerk een laatste beproeving doorstaan die het geloof van talrijke gelovigen zal doen wankelen. De vervolging waarmee haar pelgrimstocht op aarde vergezeld gaat, zal het "mysterie van de ongerechtigheid" onthullen in de vorm van een godsdienstig bedrog dat de mensen een schijnoplossing biedt voor hun problemen. De prijs die zij daarvoor betalen is dat zij afvallen van de Waarheid. De ergste godsdienstige dwaalleer is die van de Antichrist, d.w.z. die van een pseudo-messianisme waarin de mens zichzelf verheerlijkt in plaats van God en zijn Messias, die in het vlees gekomen is." "Rome zal zijn Paus verdrijven. Het zal een religie van heidendom worden. Het zal geen deel uitmaken van de Kerk.
